Bio Michael Urie as Marc
In the Ugly Betty tv show Marc (Michael Urie) is the openly gay personal assistant of Wilhelmina Slater, the fashion editor at MODE magazine. He is very loyal to Wilhelmina and so far he will do whatever it will take to help his boss succeed in her goal to become the magazine’s editor by conspiring with both his boss and magazine receptionist Amanda to sabotage the two people responsible for costing Wilhelmina the top job, and in particular, ruin the ‘beauty’ of the magazine’s workplace: Daniel Meade and Betty Suarez, respectively.
Michael Urie is a New York based actor whose theatrical credits have taken him from Dallas to Seattle, San Diego, Washington, DC, Austin and the Berkshires. He has worked Off and Off Off-Broadway, and in commercials and in independent film.
A recipient of the 2002 John Houseman Prize for excellence in classical theatre from the Julliard School, from which he holds an acting degree, Urie’s classical credits include Shakespeare ("Othello," "Titus Andronicus" and "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" for the Old Globe’s Shakespeare festival, "Romeo and Juliet" for DC’s Folger Theatre, "Love’s Labor’s Lost" for The Judith Shakespeare Company), Jacobean drama ("The Revenger’s Tragedy" for The Red Bull Theatre and "The Roaring Girle" at The Foundry) and commedia del arte ("The King Stag" at Seattle Rep). He appeared in the world premiere of "Love and Happiness" at Barrington Stage in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. When he was cast as Marc in "Ugly Betty," Urie was playing a bearded geologist and getting blown away by Mt. St. Helens every night Off-Broadway in "Phenomenon," at HERE performance space.
I think Marc plays his part well and he should do more fruity things and should make his eyes wide in like every show because that is now his trademark and it is so hilarious!!!
