Ugly Betty – Episode 8 – Four Thanksgivings and a Funeral

To his dismay, Daniel must attend his family’s Thanksgiving gathering at the Country Club. Meanwhile, Amanda and Marc create their own gathering at Mode and there is also a dinner at Betty’s house where Santos, Justin’s father, is in attendance. Meanwhile, Wilhelmina also hosts a Thanksgiving dinner as well but her feast doesn’t look as good as it does in magazine pictures.

When Sofia shows up at Mode unannounced, Betty finally breaks away from Daniel to enjoy a Thanksgiving weekend, so she thinks at least. Sofia and Daniel agree to be friends and to meet at the Meade Thanksgiving get together. Sofia announces she will be bringing her boyfriend Hunter along. This sends Daniel into panic mode who then relies on Betty to hold his hand.

Wilhelmina, after debating celebrating Thanksgiving with friends, feels guilt and prepares a feast for Nico who will be visiting for the weekend. Having no clue what to do, she relies on Martha Stewart who makes a cameo appearance to help her.

Betty and Hilda go back and forth at each other for different reasons. In the end, it looks like the Suarez family gets ripped off from a shady lawyer Hilda found while peddling Herbalux products in front of a gym.

Amanda and Marc spend their Thanksgiving in the Mode offices and snoop around until they come across Wilhelmina’s phone bill. They then decide to call a special number and come across a mysterious voice. They are in hot water once again.

Betty goes to pick up Daniel at a Salsa club after Sofia announces she and Hunter will most likely be getting married. Sofia gives him a chance to stop her from doing this, but Daniels philandering ways say the contrary.

Ugly Betty – Episode 7 – After Hours

Betty takes a break from her escalating family troubles when she’s assigned to review a posh new hotel. Meanwhile, Daniel is dismayed when Sofia Reyes and her team take up residence in the Mode conference room, and Wilhelmina goes a little bit country to woo a mega rich Texan to advertise his stores in Mode.

Romance and games best describe this episode of Ugly Betty as Daniel and Sofia go back and forth on teasing and torturing each other. Sofia turns the tables on Daniel who evidently falls for her, when she drops a bomb on him and says she has been busy all weekend with her boyfriend.

Wilhelmina is requested by Bradford to entertain a rich Texan and desperately pulls out all the sales tricks. They end up at a southern bar where he can express himself. Just when she’s about ready to give up, her daughter Nico calls. She then explains how she’s been a bad mother and such. He sympathizes and announces he will work with Mode.

Hilda decides to ask her ex for money as he recently made it big gambling. Santos, reluctantly gives in with one request, to see his son. Hilda seems to be falling for Santos again. An affair to follow up on.

Then there’s Betty. When a contributing writer pulls out of an assignment, Daniel gives her a shot to do the hotel review. Trouble starts as she had already planned a weekend with Walter who decides to go to Atlantic City by himself. Betty starts her weekend with a massage right when a change of heart Walter walks in. Things go downhill from there. Betty struggles writing the review and in the end writes it to her taste. This doesn’t go well with Daniel who honestly rejects the piece. Feeling dejected, Betty goes into hiding until Sofia announces she loved her article and will use it in her magazine.

Ugly Betty – Episode 6 – Trust, Lust and Must

Daniel falls in instant lust with a mysterious beauty he sees in the Mode lobby (guest star Salma Hayek) and asks for Betty’s help in finding out the lady’s identity. Meanwhile, Betty and Hilda scramble to raise cash when they get some unexpected news, and Wilhelmina must deal with an unexpected house guest – her daughter (guest star Jowharah Jones as Nico).

Hayek plays Sofia Reyes and wears Daniel around her finger throughout the entire episode giving him a taste of his own medicine. He finally finds out her identity when Bradford introduces her as head of one of Meads publications.

The Suarez family woes build as they visit an expensive lawyer who points out that they need to raise a large sum of money to help their father with an immigration issue. Betty finally agrees to sell Herbalux products at Mode. Eventually this gets her in hot water with Wilhelmina, who surprisingly enough offers Betty twenty-thousand dollars, the amount needed for a lawyers retainer. But knowing Wilhelmina, there is something behind her generosity and Betty knows this. Nico stirs up troubles for her mother by shoplifting and putting on a show in corporate lobby.

Amanda has had her last straw of neglect from Daniel and finally confesses she was his “Monday” girl.

Fey Sommers decides to make a public appearance when Bradford pays her tomb a birthday visit. She quickly disappears adding to his bewilderment.

Ignacio Suarez finally confesses why he never applied for a green card or American citizenship, after being in the country for more than 30 years.

Ugly Betty – Episode 5 – The Lyin’, the Watch and the Wardrobe

It’s Halloween and Betty is in for a series of frightful experiences, ranging from showing up dressed for the Mode costume contest until she learns that there isn’t one, to dealing with her growing attraction to Walter, and tracking down a watch Daniel left at one of his many girlfriends’ apartments, but can’t remember which one. Meanwhile, Daniel pays a visit to his mom in rehab, and Wilhelmina is horrified to learn that she can’t fit into a designer gown.

Betty decides to have lunch with a person from accounting and seems to be enjoying herself when Walter unexpectedly walks in to the sushi restaurant right as she is being fed a sushi roll. She now has to deal with that, continue trying to find Daniels watch which so happens to be with Amanda who was his “Monday” girl and her fathers growing problems with a false identity.

Wilhelmina finally accepts certain things about her ageing process and has her version of an unexpected visitor, in the form of her daughter, right as she’s about to leave on a date with a man much younger than she is.

Daniel goes deeper to find out about his father’s relationship with the mysterious Fey and his biological mother.

Betty’s father finally confesses that he is in the country illegally.

After Mode is forced to abandon its big Christmas photo shoot because another magazine has copied the idea, Betty forms an uneasy alliance with Marc and Amanda. The three fear they may have leaked the idea to someone at the rival magazine. Meanwhile, Daniel and Wilhelmina reluctantly work together to come up with a new photo spread as Mode’s deadline looms, and Betty’s nephew, Justin, is oblivious to the turmoil as he spends a day at the magazine for a class project.

The trio goes through one and a half day of watching every department go through scrutiny by Wilhelmina and come out clean. It’s funny to see Amanda binge eat and Marc panic.

What seems like Fey, makes a phone call to Daniel who refuses to answer, saying his father has been acting strange lately and the answers are in the box.

Finally, Betty’s honesty gets the trio out of trouble, which Wilhelmina points towards another worker. The photo shoot is an almost exact copy of one previously done with the exception of a personal message to Bradford.
